About the hub

Math first, with the assumptions shown

TDEE Math Hub started with a simple frustration: many nutrition calculators hand over a single number with little explanation and a lot of marketing around it. We wanted a free tool that shows its work instead.

The hub focuses on neutral, math-forward explanations of total daily energy expenditure. Every calculator comes with plain-language notes on the formula, the inputs it relies on, and where the estimate can drift from real life.

What guides us

Our editorial commitments

Transparent assumptions

Each estimate states the inputs and formula behind it, so you can see what the number depends on.

Accessible language

We explain calculations in everyday terms, avoiding jargon wherever a plain word will do the job.

Independent analysis

Our guidance stays neutral. We describe what the math can and cannot tell you rather than prescribing eating habits.
